Havelock lacrosse beats Jacksonville, earns playoff spot

The Havelock High School lacrosse team defeated Jacksonville 15-9 Monday, earning a top seed for the upcoming state 1A/2A/3A playoffs.

The Rams received a first-round bye are scheduled to host the winner of South Brunswick and Northside in a second-round contest at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Havelock High.

Against Jacksonville, Jason Hollister, Richard Fischer and Kendall Smith each scored three goals, while Cullen Davidson added two. Jake Hamilton, Malik Brown, Anthony LaLima and R.J. Howard each scored once, while LaLima won 13 of 18 faceoffs.

James McFadden had eight saves in goal.

With the victory, Havelock improved to 8-7 overall in its first season of competition.
