The Havelock Rams caught fire early from long range and continued to add fuel as they cruised to a 75-52 win over White Oak in the first round of the Coastal Conference Boys' Basketball Tournament Tuesday.

The second-seed Rams drained five 3-pointers in the first quarter, and had seven in the first half as they raced out to a 38-22 lead at halftime.

They will host three seed South Central at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Zack Bruns provided the Rams (15-8) with a game-high 20 points.

“It is good to see Zack start hitting his threes again,” said Havelock coach Bill Fryczynski. “He was struggling the past few games. That was a good sign.”

Havelock had five players score in double figures. Pharoh Cooper added 16, Matt Prichard had 14 points and nine rebounds, Kyran Bowman tallied 12 and David Carter scored 10.

Shondel Granison ripped down eight boards, while Cooper and Bowman each had five as Havelock won the rebounding battle, 35-32.
