Havelock girls medal, boys place fourth in league championship

The Havelock High girls swim team brought home a medal at the Coastal 3A Conference swimming championships Wednesday at the Twin Rivers YMCA in New Bern.

Havelock’s girls totaled 184 points in the seven-team competition to finish in third place, well ahead of fourth-place West Carteret (122). Washington won the championship with 346 points.

Meanwhile, the Havelock boys finished just out of a medal with a fourth-place showing. The Ram boys totaled 203 points, behind third-place West Carteret (280). D.H. Conley won the boys championship with 303 points.

The Rams are next scheduled to swim in a three-team meet on Friday at the Twin Rivers YMCA before preparing for the eastern 3A regionals on Feb. 2.
