The Havelock High soccer team lost 2-1 in the first round of the playoffs to Southern Nash on Wednesday in Bailey.
The Rams struck first in the contest on a goal by junior standout Noah Kemble and held a 1-0 advantage at halftime.
However, Southern Nash (16-4-1) exploded in the opening minutes of the second half. The Firebirds got a goal from Moises Gonzalez, tying the match just two minutes into the second period. Miguel Salazar scored six minutes later, putting Southern Nash up for good and accounting for the final margin.
With the loss, Havelock, the fifth-seed out of the Coastal 3A Conference, finished the year at 13-9-1.
