Ortega sparks rally with three goals

“That’s the first time that we’ve been able to come back like that and get a win. Being down two goals here at Havelock is tough,” West Craven coach Aaron Steele said.

With the loss, Havelock falls to 10-4-1 overall, but more importantly, slips a half-game behind the Eagles in the Coastal 3A Conference standings with a 3-3-1 mark.

“We had intensity early on and just lost it,” Havelock coach Jeff Harris said. “I think the guys got a little too comfortable with that 2-0 lead, and then we got in too big of a hole. We came back with good intensity again in the second half, but it was too late.”

Havelock is next scheduled to host South Central Thursday, with the junior varsity match beginning at 5 p.m. and the varsity to follow at 6:30 p.m.
