Twins Jordan and Julian Cuthbertson shared the football field at Havelock High and three consecutive state championships.

Now, the two defensive backs will share college together as both agreed to attend Guilford College and play football.

“We took two visits to Guilford and really liked everything it had to offer us with the football program,” Julian Cuthbertson said. “We heard about the school through coach (Jim Bob Bryant) and he sent them all of our highlight tapes and they said they loved them.”

Bryant played football at Guilford College before getting his degree from East Carolina.

Another Havelock tie to Guilford is that former Ram London Duvall is already playing football at the NCAA Division III college located in Greensboro.

“That was a big reason we chose to go there too - the fact that London is playing there and we have a lot of family in the area,” Jordan Cuthbertson said. “(Guilford) plays with a lot of physicality and we both play that way, so I am looking forward to going there and going against London in practice and all that.”

The twins played a key role in Havelock’s 21-13 victory over Concord in December’s state championship game. Julian Cuthbertson was in on 10 tackles, while Jordan had eight. For the season, Julian was fourth on the team with 101 tackles and also had four fumble recoveries, while Jordan contributed 57 tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.
