Havelock girls dominate Jacksonville

LaShonda Prichard scored early and Tori Nix scored late as the Havelock Rams dominated Jacksonville 59-17 in a Coastal 3A Conference game Friday night at Havelock High.

Prichard scored eight of Havelock’s 12 first-quarter points as the Rams opened a quick 12-2 lead. The Rams turned up their defense to start the second quarter, forcing nine turnovers in four minutes and going on a 15-0 run to lead 27-4 with 3:13 left in the first half.

Havelock led 29-7 at halftime, with Prichard scoring 14 of those points.

In the second half, the Rams looked inside to Nix, who scored the first 10 points of the second half for Havelock, which extended its lead to 45-12 heading into the fourth quarter.

Nix finished with 19 points on the night, while Prichard tallied 16. Kierra Fleming contributed six points for the Rams.

Rachel Thompson led Jacksonville with 13 points and five blocks.

Havelock next plays West Carteret for senior night on Tuesday at Havelock High.
