Godette to play at Pitt Community College
Havelock High School senior Johnny Godette will play basketball next season at Pitt Community College in Greenville.
The 6-foot-4 center will be a part of the return of basketball to the Pitt County community college after a 14-year layoff.
"I'm excited," Godette said. "It gives me an opportunity to get better and still be recruited."
Havelock coach Bill Fryczynski said Godette turned into a dominant player on the inside for the Rams.
"Johnny was our enforcer," said Fryczynski. "We wanted to keep Johnny around the basket because he could block shots. He improved a lot since his junior season and he developed a fairly-reliable mid-range jump shot."
Godette averaged 14 points and 10.5 rebounds per game his senior season and also totaled 75 blocks for the season. He was named to the all-Coastal Conference team.
Godette said he hoped to be recruited by a Division I school while playing junior college basketball at Pitt.
