Rams fall 4-3 in first round
Western Alamance rallied from a three-run deficit and scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Havelock 4-3 in the first round of the state 3A softball playoffs Tuesday night in Elon.
Havelock led 3-1 in the sixth but the Warriors (20-4) got a run in the bottom of the sixth and then added two more in the bottom of the seventh on four consecutive hits, the final one being Cassidy Coleman’s bases-loaded, two-run single that gave Western Alamance the victory.
The Rams scored all three of their runs in the first inning but could not muster any offense afterwards. Havelock totaled just four hits in the game, while the Warriors had nine.
Havelock finishes the season with an 11-10 record.
