Rams finish the season with 23-4 record

The Havelock High girls basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 81-77 loss to Orange in the second round of the state playoffs.

The Rams finish the season with a 23-4 overall record, while Orange improved to 26-1 on the season with the victory.

The game turned in the third quarter. Havelock maintained a 40-36 lead at halftime but suffered a power outage in the third period. The Rams scored just 11 points, as Orange pulled out to a 59-51 advantage.

Orange led by as many as 11 in the fourth quarter. The Rams rallied and got within 76-72 on a Keltsy Hardee basket, but Kaylen Campbell made 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to help Orange hold off Havelock.

NyAsia Blango scored 29 points for Havelock, while Aniylah Bryant added 17 and Nseya Harden contributed 15 points and nine rebounds. Hardee also had nine rebounds to go along with six points.

The Rams made six 3-pointers in the game but shot just 35 percent from the field for the game and had 14 turnovers.
