Havelock girls to host first-round game Tuesday night

The Havelock boys and girls basketball teams both qualified for the state 3A playoffs and will have playoff games on Tuesday.

The Havelock girls enter the playoffs with a 22-3 record and as the No. 2 playoff seed after a loss last week to Jacksonville in the Coastal 3A Conference tournament championship game.

The Rams are the overall No. 12 seed in the state playoffs and host 19th-seeded Southern Guilford (15-10) in a first-round game at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Havelock High.

The Havelock boys team made the playoffs as an at-large team with a 10-13 record. The Rams, seeded No. 28, will hit the road for a playoff contest against fifth-seeded Southern Lee (17-8) at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Sanford.
