Samuel Henry Fisher, 78, of 430 Fishertown Road, Havelock, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his residence.

He was a member of Piney Grove AME Zion Church and served as a trustee and former choir member. He retired as a longshoreman and was formerly vice-president of the ILA.

Funeral was Saturday at Oscar’s Mortuary Memorial Chapel, New Bern, with the Rev. Lawrence B. Kelsey Sr. officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Fisher Becton of the home; two brothers, Henderson Fisher of Havelock and Garrison Fisher of Neptune, N.J.; one sister, Ella Fisher of Neptune, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence.
