Roy Edward Brush, Capt., USMC Ret., 72, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013.
A native of Racine, Wisconsin, Roy was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving three tours. He served our nation with honor and distinction for over 20 years. After retirement, he continued to serve our country 15 additional years of dedicated service at the NADEP, Cherry Point, N.C. Roy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather (papa) who relentlessly shared his love of our country and his family. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed coaching and umpired for over 20 years.
Roy was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Camille Walters Brush; his second wife of four years, Janelle Ripley; and daughter Stacey; and is survived by his current wife Carol Parrish Brush of Selma, N.C. He is also survived by his sons, Scott Brush and fiancée Vicki McMahon of Clayton, N.C., and Steve Brush and wife Dana of Princeton; and a daughter, Kellie Brush Sontag and her husband Ed of Richmond, Va.; stepdaughters Pam and husband Anthony Crocker, and Kim Batten of Selma, N.C. Twelve deeply loved and adored grandchildren also survive Roy: Morgan, Amber, Kevin, Michael, Jessica, Luke, Hillary, Kelson, Lawson, Kylie, Craig and Katherine; and also his beloved Molly.
A graveside celebration of Roy’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2013, during a memorial ceremony with full military honors at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens, 908 Lake Road, Havelock, N.C.
