Roland Viverette Gamble, 89, of Newport, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Carteret General Hospital, Morehead City.

He was born April 6, 1924 in Nash County. He served in the Army during World War II, worked as an auditor with the N.C. Equipment Company and the state prison. He worked as a staff accountant and in human resources for the State Board of Education in Raleigh. He owned and managed Gamble’s Motel in Atlantic Beach for 10 years before retirement.

Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Knightdale United Methodist Church Cemetery, 621 N. First Ave., Knightdale.

He is survived by his wife, Faye C. Gamble; two sons, Michael Glosson of Newport and Chris Glosson of Liberty Township, Ohio; one daughter, Tina Glosson Bachar of Midlothian, Va.; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City and from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service in Knightdale.

In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to Karis Church, 606 Ridgeway Ave., Columbia, MO 65203.
