Robert Allen Donham

Robert Allen Donham, 91, of Warren and Russell, Penn., and most recently Havelock, passed away on Tuesday, Sept.17, 2013 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport, following a brief illness.

Robert was born May 30, 1922 in New Richmond, Ohio.  The son of the late Harold and Elsie Donham, he was a resident of Lindale Ohio, and a 1939 graduate of Amelia  High School, Amelia, Ohio. Robert worked in the Chevrolet Plant outside Cincinnati until he joined the U. S. Army Air Corps at the beginning of WWII.  He served as a Technical Sergeant in the China-Burma-India Theater.  He was stationed in India as an aircraft mechanic in a Search and Rescue Squadron that rescued downed aircrew flying over “The Hump”.

Following his wartime service, Robert worked in a variety of positions in local incandescent lighting manufacturing endeavors, until he retired as the president of Solar Electric Corp. in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret Blick Donham, whom he married on Nov. 16, 1950; and his brother Carroll.  He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Fletcher and her husband Daniel, Seattle, Wash.; a son Brian Donham and his wife Kathy, Havelock; a sister Audria and her husband Janis Perkins of Williamsburg, Ohio; and brother-in-law, Henry F. Blick Jr. and his wife Mary, of Warren, Penn. Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Elisabeth Lind and her husband Steve, Anna Fletcher, and Nathan Fletcher, all of Seattle, Wash., and Kyle Donham and his wife Alison, of New Bern; four great-grandchildren, Ariel and Diane Lind and Evelyn and Courtland Donham, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Monday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 445 Conewango  Ave. Warren for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Clair Cable officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA, The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Calvary Baptist Church of Warren or the Cherry Point Baptist Church, 210 Church Road, Havelock, N.C. 28532.
