Patricia Smith, 44, of 113 Elizabeth Ave., Havelock, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at her residence.

She was a graduate of East Carteret High School, Elizabeth City State University, and N.C. A&T State University and received her master’s degree from Appalachian State University. She was employed with the Charleston, S.C. and the Carteret County School systems as a speech pathologist. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Gamma Zeta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and she was a member of Mt. Tabor M.B. Church where she served on the Usher Board and was vice-president of the United Sisters in Christ.

Funeral was Nov. 1 at Mt. Tabor M.B. Church with the Rev. Hubert Judon officiating. Interment was at Carteret Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Murrell Jr. of the home; one stepdaughter, Lawanda Lynette Murrell of Beaufort; her mother, Ada Smith of Beaufort; two brothers, Lewis Smith of Maysville and Arthur Smith of Beaufort; three sisters, Jennie Collins of Havelock, Vanessa Lee of Virginia Beach, Va., and Clarissa Smith of Montclair, N.J.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Arrangements are by Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, New Bern.
