Leo “Sam” Whaley, 89, of Morehead City, died Friday, July 11, 2014, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Morehead City. He was the owner of 24 Street Service Station for 14 years, and owner and operator of AAA Recaping and Tire Service in Havelock for 35 years.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel, Morehead City, with Dr. Nate Leonard and the Rev. Darrell Williams officiating.

Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Ann Whaley of the home; one son, Leo Clemens Whaley Jr. of Chesapeake, Va.; one daughter, Clara Sanderson Bernstain of Morehead City; two sisters, Elsie Mae Wynne of Virginia Beach, Va., and Edna Gray Kahny of Newport; and one granddaughter.
