Herman Reaves Price, 89, of Havelock, formerly of Eden (Spray), N.C., died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at home.

He was born in Spray, N.C. on March 19, 1924, to Allen and Pearlie Thomas Price. Mr. Price served in the United States Air Force during World War II and graduated from North Carolina State College. He was a Scottish Rite Mason. He retired from civil service as an Industrial Engineer. He loved the beach and surf fishing and possessed a zest for life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delma P. Price; daughters, Judith Price Elkins and husband, Bobby, of Fuquay Varina, and Joyce Price Spears and husband, Dickie, of Wilmington; sister, Violet Barrow and husband, Jim, of Eden; grandchildren, Jimmy Elkins and Molly Spears; great-grandchildren Laurel Elkins and Perry Elkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, his grandson, Richard “Richie” Spears, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 24, at 6 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Michael Frese officiating. The interment will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at Ridge-View Memorial Gardens, Eden, N.C. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church for the Crystal Coast Hospice House Chapel, 900 Arendell Street, Morehead City, N.C. 28557.
