Graham M. Tyler, 84, formerly of Newport, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Wake Medical Center in Cary.

He was born July 5, 1928, in Logan, W.Va. He is a 30-year veteran of the Marine Corps, retiring as a master gunnery sergeant. He worked as an electrical technician with civil service in the United States and overseas.

Memorial will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Havelock, with the Rev. William Boykin, officiating.

He is survived by three daughters, Martina T. Hamlin of Canton, Ga., Denise T. Woods of Cary and Patti T. Cotter of San Diego; one son, Charles F. Tyler of Irvine, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory, Morehead City.
