Genaro Anthony Louis Perez, 83, of 611-A Brown Drive in the James City Community, New Bern, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern.

He retired from the Marine Corps, NADEP Facilities Maintenance at Cherry Point, Adams Machine and Ernul’s Locksmith. He served as troop master for the Cub and Boy Scouts Troop 684, was a member of the George B. Willis and J.M. Hicks Masonic Lodge, and Worthy Patron of the Queen Vashti No. 40. He was a member, usher, trustee, church sexton and pastor steward at Jones Chapel AMEZ Church.

Funeral will be noon Saturday at Jones Chapel AME Zion Church with the Rev. David Simmons and the Rev. Timothy Jackson officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow at the Meadows Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Perez of the home; two sons, Anthony Perez of Raleigh and Victor Perez of Wendell; one sister, Eva Liccione of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one foster daughter, Gail Dinkins of Rocky Mount; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Oscar’s Mortuary, New Bern.
