Emily Dixon Carter, 77, of 235 Ferry Road, Havelock, died on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at her residence.
She was a member of God’s City of Refuge Church and employed with both the District of Columbia and New Bern-Craven County school systems for more than 40 years as an educator.
Funeral will be noon Friday at God’s City of Refuge Church with Pastor Willie Murray officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by one son, Robert Dixon of Havelock; two brothers, Theodore Foreman of Chesterfield, Va., and Oscar Foreman of Havelock; four sisters, Queenie Hayes and Julia Bragg of Havelock, Martha Gary of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Lillie Rouse of Philadelphia; and one grandson.
Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are by Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, New Bern.
