Davis S. Tickle, of Cape Carteret, died on Saturday, March 29, after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Tickle, and his son, Robin Tickle.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday April 3, 2014, at Saint Mildred Catholic Church, Swansboro, with Father Don Baribeau officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Mildred Catholic Church Cemetery.

He is survived by six remaining children: Paul Tickle and wife Beth from New London, Pa., Betsy Tickle from Newark, Del., Christine Forsythe and husband Don from Dillsburg, Pa., Peter Tickle from Cape Carteret, N.C., Ann Young and husband John from Hanahan, S.C., and Andrew Tickle and wife Maria from Calais, Maine. David had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was born in Southampton, England in 1921. While in England, he worked on aircraft during WWII. He moved to Canada in 1947 and worked for Fairey Aviation. He then immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1961 where David worked for Boeing in the helicopter division as an aeronautical engineer. He moved to this area in 1978 to work at Cherry Point. He traveled throughout the world as a field service representative and retired at the age of 70.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Lewy Body Dementia Association, LBDA.org.

Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro.
