Bradley Jay Schaaf, 61, of Beaufort, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at home.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Jan. 2, 1952. He served in the Marine Corps and retired from civil service at Cherry Point. He was a member of American Legion Post 99, Beaufort, the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Lodge 1859, Havelock, and the U.S. Taekwondo Union club number 02911, Atlantic Beach. For the last three years, he served as the sexton for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Beaufort.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. John B. Carlisto officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow at the church columbarium.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Tammie Wells Schaaf; one daughter, Amanda Charlene Vayo of Winterville; parents, Lewis Jay and Annabelle Schaaf of Melbourne, Fla.; one sister Cheryl Frusteri, of Parma, Ohio; and one granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 215 Ann St., Beaufort, NC 28516 or Core Creek United Methodist Church, 124 Hardesty Loop Road, Newport, NC 28570.

Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory of Morehead City.
