MSgt. Harold C. Walker, USMC (ret.) 86, formerly of Havelock, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, at his home with his family by his side.

NEW BERN — MSgt. Harold C. Walker, USMC (ret.) 86, formerly of Havelock, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. A native of Chicago, IL, Harold was the son of Elsie Carlson and Harry C. Walker. He was a true patriot, retiring from the US Marine Corps, having served in Korea and Vietnam, and he was also retired from NADEP - Cherry Point. While in Havelock, Harold was a volunteer fireman with Township #6 Fire Dept. He helped restore the historic Trader’s Store, along with helping with Habitat for Humanity. Harold loved restoring old homes, and working with his hands. He was quick with a smile, and enjoyed telling stories.

Funeral services for Harold will be 12:00 PM, Friday, February 9, 2018 at Pollock-Best Chapel with Pastor Brian Alphin officiating. The family will receive friends from 11-12, prior to the service. Harold is survived by his wife of 38 years, Terry Fletcher Walker, of New Bern; his daughters, Sharon Lynn Gulledge (Glen), of Gulfport, MS; Kelly Ann Walker, of Gulfport, MS; Terri Lee Walker, of Eastpointe, MI; his son, Michael C. Walker, of New Bern; his step-daughter, Leigh Anne Fletcher, of New Bern; step-sons, John Paul Fletcher (Wendy), of Havelock; and David Burton Randall, of New Bern. He also leaves behind his sister, Violet W. Forbes, of San Diego, CA; his four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, and his four-legged baby, Star.
