Elvin “Kid” Hugh Johnson Sr., 70, of 102 Edith Lane, Havelock, died Thursday at his residence.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Craven Corner M.B. Church, 1050 Adams Creek Road, Havelock. Entombment will follow in the Frazier Family Cemetery, 800 Adams Creek Road.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Valeria Elizabeth Goode Johnson of the home; four sons, Mark George of Raleigh, Marvin Williams of Minnesota, Takulve Johnson of Pensacola, Fla., and Elvin H. Johnson Jr. of New Bern; four daughters, Sherry Bryant, Sharon Blango and Marion Yvette George, all of Raleigh, and Valentina Barrett of Durham; two brothers, Roy Johnson of Havelock and Thomas Johnson of Moss Point, Miss.; seven sisters, Annie George, Willie Johnson, Julie Prichard, Reatha Payton, Flossie Frazier, Luevina Williams and Sadie Frazier; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

Arrangements are by Oscar’s Mortuary, New Bern.
