“Their record keeping was good,” Wood said.

“We’ve made good progress in these break ins.  We’ve solved probably 11 breaking and entering cases at this point,” Woods said.

All of the cases were residential break ins going back the past couple of months.

Woods said that the investigation is still ongoing and police anticipate more charges to be filed.

According to the N.C. Department of Corrections, Yulee was given a suspended sentence in 2010 for disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana. No record could be found for Jones in North Carolina, but he is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 10 on charges of misdemeanor larceny and assault with a deadly weapon.

Police are still encouraging local citizens to secure their residences and keep valuables out of sight. They also say owners should maintain good records of serial numbers for valuable items. This could aid in recovery of stolen items.

Anyone with information on these crimes should call Havelock Police at 447-3212 or the confidential tip line at 463-7115 or go online to and select police and tip line to leave a confidential message.  If suspicious activity is observed in your neighborhood, don’t hesitate to call 911.
