Power back on after morning outage
Power has been fully restored to about 13,000 customers who were affected by an early morning outage in Carteret and Craven counties.
According to Progress Energy spokesman Jeff Brooks, there was an outage at 2:58 a.m. Monday on a transmission system that impacted three different transmission lines. At the height of the outage, there were 13,000 customers in the Morehead City, Beaufort and Down East areas of the county without power.
By 9:11 a.m. all power had been restored.
Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative customers in Havelock and eastern Craven County were also affected.
Crews were still investigating the cause of the outage and it was not certain if it was weather related.
