Planned F-35 facility at FRC East receives backing

“The perimeter fence is certainly absolutely needed,” Sanders said. “We have to have the perimeter fence or the rest of it doesn’t matter. You’ve got to get first things first. The first thing that you have to have is the perimeter fence in order to have the aircraft here. We’re pleased with the progress that that is making, but we also want the lift fan facility. That’s a very important capability for the FRC for the long-term support of the F-35.”

Cherry Point is scheduled to receive the first of six planned F-35B squadrons at Cherry Point in 2021 or 2022. The security additions top the Navy’s list of unfunded items in the Department of Defense budget.
