A woman was severely injured Saturday afternoon after losing control of her motorcycle in Havelock.
The wreck happened at about 2:55 p.m. on in the eastbound lanes of West Main Street at Tourist Center Drive.
A witness said the woman was slowing for a vehicle in front of her when she started swerving back and forth and fell from the bike. Another witness said the woman cartwheeled several times before coming to rest in the left lane. The bike continued rolling for about 200 feet before falling over, another witness said.
The middle aged woman was driving a dark blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Motorists stopped immediately to render aid to the cyclist.
Havelock Fire and Rescue responded and immediately called in an EastCare medevac helicopter.
The injured cyclist was loaded onto the helicopter from a landing zone just east of the Navy Federal building on West Main Street.
The helicopter took off with the unidentified woman at 3:59 p.m. bound for Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Havelock Police are investigating the wreck.
