Gov. Pat McCrory has canceled his scheduled appearance at tonight’s Eastern Carolina Aviation Heritage Foundation gala, citing weather concerns.
The gala is still on and is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center.
The potential for snow, sleet and freezing rain in areas west all the way through Raleigh were cited as the reason for McCrory’s cancellation.
Still, Charles T. Burbage, of Lockheed Martin, is scheduled to speak about the F-35B Joint Strike Fighter, and the gala will present a program that includes updates on aviation foundation projects and a look at how science, technology, engineering and math education program are impacting the next generation of aviation enthusiasts.
