Registration to vote in the November General Election is scheduled to end at 5 p.m. on Friday, but that doesn’t mean an unregistered person can’t vote.

Registration to vote on Election Day on Nov. 6 does end on Friday, but unregistered voters do have the chance to register and vote during the early-voting period, which is scheduled to begin Oct. 18 at sites throughout the county.

The latest numbers from Craven County show 70,065 registered voters – 27,683 Democrats, 23,773 Republicans, 18,430 unaffiliated and 179 libertarians.

Already, the Craven County Board of Elections has received 514 of the 1,646 absentee ballots. Absentee ballots may still be requested by registered voters through the elections office.

Early voting will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at four county sites. In Havelock, voting will take place at Suite 102 of the State Farm business complex near the entrance to the Westbrooke subdivision at 288 U.S. 70 West. Other early voting sites include the Board of Elections office on the first floor of the Craven County Administration Building at the corner of Broad and Craven streets in downtown New Bern, the Cove City Fire Department and the Vanceboro Fire Department.

Sunday early voting will be 1 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 at the county administration building.
