Truck and passenger car collide

A representative from CarolinaEast Medical Center said that passenger Mang was treated and released but no information was available for Lay or Aye.

According to Sgt. Rock, passenger Ke was initially taken to CarolinaEast but then flown by EastCare to Vidant.

All of the victims in the passenger car were reported to be from New Bern.

According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, neither speed nor alcohol contributed to the wreck and there will be no charges.

Responding to the wreck were Harlowe Volunteer Fire Department, Havelock Fire and Rescue Department and Cherry Point EMS.

“It was a bad tragedy. Two people got killed,” said Theron McCabe, with the Harlowe VFD. A landing zone was set up at the department station on Ferry Road for the EastCare helicopters.

“It’s been a long time that’s we’ve had a double. We had one on Blades Road about 18 years ago, but on Ferry Road I think that’s the first one,” McCabe said.
