Two Carteret County sex offenders are back in jail after officials say they failed to update their respective addresses as required.

According to a press release from Carteret County Sheriff’s Office, James Ryan Stevens, 28, of East Branch Drive, Newport, was arrested June 25 by Carteret deputies after he allegedly violated the provisions of the sex offender registry. Stevens is charged with failing to notify officials after changing his address to a mobile home park on Roberts Road, Newport, according to the release.

Sheriff’s detective Harold Pendergrass said Stevens was originally placed on the sex offender registry in Carteret County for taking indecent liberties with a 15-year-old.

He was placed in the Carteret County Jail under a $10,000 bond.

Two days later, Carteret County deputies arrested Robert Lee Snow, 44, formerly of Montana, also for violating provisions of the sex offender registry.

Snow is accused of living in a tent in various locations around the Newport area, according to the press release.

He was charged with failing to notify the sheriff’s office of his move to North Carolina and failing to provide his address.
