The case of a Havelock teen charged with the 2013 murder of a bar bouncer was continued Tuesday in Craven County Superior Court to the week of May 20.

Jonathan Richard Pugh, 19, did not appear before Judge Arnold Jones during Tuesday’s hearing in New Bern. Instead, he remains incarcerated in Raleigh in the N.C. Division of Adult Correction for his own safety.

A Rule 24 Conference was held Tuesday on Pugh’s behalf to establish a schedule for prosecution.

Pugh is charged with one count of first degree murder in the shooting death of Todd North, 39, of Havelock, in the early morning hours of April 14 last year.

North died of four gunshot wounds allegedly fired by Pugh through the open front doorway of the Flyers bar on Fontana Boulevard.

Five other people were hurt in the exchange of fire that also resulted in Pugh being hit with a bullet in his stomach.

Pugh also faces five counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and one count of felony discharging a weapon into an occupied property.
