Fundraiser held for Havelock High student

Saturday’s event, organized by area churches and the high school, was full of fun, from bounce houses for children and a cornhole tournament to a walk-a-thon and a 5K run.

Tyson Donaldson ran the 5K race with his beagle, Penny.

“I was surprised I made it,” he said as Penny lapped water from a cup. “I knew she would make it.”

Johnathan Burson was just happy to finish the run as he crossed the line right behind Donaldson.

“I won in last place,” he joked.

Havelock High student Ethan Feldt, a member of the school’s cross country team, won the race. He ran as a member of the school’s NJROTC program, which helped out at the event.

“I just came out here to help and figured I could have some fun at the same time,” he said of running the race.
