Glenn Poole Jr. is looking forward to one thing: the opportunity to go target shooting again.

Poole, the Havelock High student who nearly drowned in September at Fort Macon, came out for the Glenn Poole Celebration fundraiser Saturday at Havelock High School.

“I’m doing pretty good,” he said.

The senior spent three months in the hospital recovering and continues to undergo rehabilitation. One of the side effects is that his left hand trembles.

“It affects my target shooting,” he said.

He spent Saturday accepting hugs and handshakes from well-wishers who attended the event.

“I’m glad they came,” he said.
