The Havelock Police Department arrested a Morehead City man suspected in a fatal shooting on Friday in Havelock.
Christopher Lee Godette, 23, has been charged with felony murder and is being held in the Craven County Jail without bond, according to a release from the Havelock Police Department.
Godette was arrested without incident Saturday with the cooperation of Morehead City police, according to the release.
Godette is suspected of shooting Gerald Fitzpatrick Price, 45, around 11 a.m. Friday morning in Price’s home at 228 Cedar Ridge Lane. Havelock police have not released a motive for the shooting, but according to the release, were able to develop information through the course of the investigation that prompted them to arrest Godette.
Police received 9-1-1 calls shortly after 11 a.m. Friday from Cedar Ridge Lane residents hearing gunshots. When police arrived, they found Price lying in his front yard. Police believe Price was shot inside the duplex but managed to get outside before collapsing.
Havelock rescue personnel took Price by ambulance to Cherry Point, where he was flown via Marine Corps rescue helicopter Pedro to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he later died.
