The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating a Monday morning crash that left at least five people injured.

The crash happened about 6:30 a.m. Monday on N.C. 101 near Cahoogue Creek Road, about one mile outside Havelock.

Jeremy Brown, chief of the Harlowe Volunteer Fire Department said the crash involved a truck and two cars. He was uncertain on the exact number of people injured but said he believed it to be five or six. All were transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern. He did not believe the injuries were life-threatening.

“There were no ejections and no pin-ins,” Brown said. “The highway was blocked for a good 40 minutes or so.”

The crash backed up traffic for miles in both directions of N.C. 101 as rescue crews worked to treat the injured and clear debris from the road.

The names of those involved in the crash have not been released, and their conditions were not immediately available from the hospital.

The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating, but as of 5 p.m. on Monday, did not have a report on the crash available.
