Memories of slain bouncer Todd North fill memorial

Brian Whalen, coach of Cherry Point rugby, said North was an integral part of the community.

“He was a super nice guy,” Whalen said. “It’s a shame.”

Alex Liverano, who is considered North’s brother, said the showing of love from the community was special to him, but not a surprise.

“He brought something very special to us,” Liverano said.

North was the type of person who would give you the shirt of his back, he said.

“He could break your arm, too,” Liverano said, causing audience members to laugh through their emotions. “…I know he loved every one of us. That’s how he was.”

After speaking about his love for his son, North’s father, Randy, paused and saluted his memory. Brothers Eric and Russell also shared memories of North, from fighting each other as youths and bonding to listening to his Marine stories and supporting each other.
