Pangborn is new top enlisted man on base

As part of her new post, she’ll serve, among other places, at the White House.

“Yes it’s a fantastic post. I don’t know how they picked me, but I’m glad they did,” she said. “Cherry Point Marines and sailors, thank you for your support.”

Maness thanked the Marines participating in her ceremony.

“You should be proud of yourselves, today and every day,” she said. “Thank you for being here today and for showing us your best. Semper Fidelis.”

Maness reports for duty in the nation’s capital in June.

Pangborn, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., joined the Marine Corps in 1986. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He is married and has two children.

Pangborn thanked his brother for bringing his mother to Thursday’s event. He joined the Marine Corps in 1979, marking 34 years that his mother has had a son in the Corps.
