A Newport man has been accused of a series of indecent exposure incidents on N.C. 24 in Carteret County.

Emmanuel Padilla-Barajas, 21, of James Grady Road, was charged Friday with three counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure and one count of felony indecent exposure, according to a release from the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office.

Padilla-Barajas is accused of driving a borrowed blue Pontiac Grand Prix up and down N.C. 24 between Newport and Morehead City and exposing himself. Authorities say three women and one juvenile reported that he exposed and shook his penis at them. An 11-year-old was in one of the vehicles when the exposure allegedly occurred, according to the release.

The incidents occurred near Hibbs Road on N.C. 24, Trailwood Drive on N.C. 24, and Bryan Street and N.C. 24. Two of the incidents occurred Feb. 18 and one on Feb. 19, according to the release.

Authorities say all three alleged victims called 911 and reported the incidents providing a partial tag number. The fourth was able to write down the entire license plate.

Investigators were able to determine the car was lent to Padilla-Barajas, who later confessed to the incidents, according to the release.

Bond was set at $10,000. He is scheduled for a first court appearance Monday morning.
