A Cherry Point man is accused of raping a woman in Beaufort earlier this month.
Kyle Christian Swinscoe, 21, was charged Friday by the Carteret County Sheriff's Office with second-degree rape and second-degree sexual offense, according to a release.
Swinscoe is accused of raping and engaging in other sexual acts by force and against the will of a 20-year-old, according to the release.
Bond was set at $50,000. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
Swinscoe is a corporal assigned to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2 based at Cherry Point, according to base officials.
