Havelock police are investigating an incident that resulted in a driver hitting a patrol car Thursday night.

Capt. David Bratton said police received a call about a possible fight on Elizabeth Street. He said police responded, with an officer observing a group of people in the street. The officer parked his car, with blue lights flashing, at one end of the street.

“The officer observed headlights coming toward him, and that vehicle struck the front end of the car,” Bratton said. “It did a little damage to the front end of the police car and a little damage to the truck.”

Bratton said no one was injured in the incident.

Bratton said charges have not been filed yet as police continue the investigation.

“We’re on it. We’re looking into it,” he said.

Anyone with any information on the incident can call the Havelock Police Department at 447-3212.
