Havelock police responding to a breaking and entering call captured a fugitive from Florida.

Aaron Joseph Christ, 25, was taken into custody at 10:52 p.m. Saturday after a break-in was reported on Glenn Drive, according to police.

Christ initially failed to reveal his identity, but once that was determined, Havelock police discovered that Christ was wanted by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida on a warrant for felony battery.

Havelock Police Chief G. Wayne Cyrus said a Havelock resident was apparently allowing Christ to stay at his home but a disagreement caused the homeowner to ask Christ to leave. Later, Christ attempted to enter the residence, prompting the call to police.

Because of Christ’s claim of a false identity, he was charged with providing fictitious information and resisting, obstructing and delaying an officer, Cyrus said.

Christ was given a $500 secured bond on the two Havelock charges but was given no bond on the fugitive warrant.
