The Rev. R.J. Logan Jr. of Havelock Church for Christ prayed for Havelock, its leaders and residents, saying the word of God is planted like seeds in the community and can grow “from the north of Havelock all the way to the east of Havelock.”

“We ask that residents contribute, and speak and honor each other with love,” he said.

During the service, special prayers were offered for the area’s churches. The Rev. Jim Davis of Havelock Church of the Nazarene, asked for blessings on the ministers who lead their congregations.

“Put your hands upon them and keep them safe,” he said.

The Rev. Donnell Smith of New Life Christian Fellowship, prayed for families.

“Our families make up this church, the church of the living God,” he said.

He mentioned the difficulties facing today’s families, and specifically, children.
