A 38-year-old Havelock man has been sentenced to 8 to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to trafficking in marijuana, possession of a stolen firearm, maintaining a storage unit for controlled substance and a felon in possession of a firearm.
Dales Francis Bishop Jr., entered the guilty plea Thursday in Craven County Superior Court.
Indictments filed on Aug. 20, 2012, indicate Havelock police received information that Bishop was storing a trafficking amount of marijuana in a storage unit.
As Havelock police drove up to the storage unit and were preparing to execute a search warrant, Bishop drove up to the unit. The police found 27 pounds of marijuana in the storage unit and several bags of marijuana and stolen firearms in the car.
Police seized $3,762 in cash. Bishop was a convicted felon at the time of his arrest.
He was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.
