Havelock city offices are scheduled to close at 11 a.m. on Friday for the beginning of the Christmas holiday.
City offices will be closed both Christmas Eve and Christmas and are scheduled to open with regular hours on Wednesday.
City offices will also be closed on Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.
City trash service will run as normal on Monday for Christmas Eve but will not operate on Tuesday for Christmas Day.
Normal Tuesday pickup will take place on Wednesday, as normal service will be one day behind for the rest of Christmas week.
Those wanting to get rid of their "live" Christmas trees can do so by removing all decorations and placing them alongside the road for pickup, similar to pickup for yard debris.
In Craven County, there is no service for pickup of live Christmas trees. The trees must be taken to one of the county’s recycling centers.
In Craven County, recycling and garbage will not be collected on Christmas Day and won’t be collected on New Year’s Day. The pickup schedule for the rest of the week will be one day behind the normal schedule.
The county recycling centers will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. They will be open as normal on Dec. 27 and on Jan. 3.
Many retail businesses and banks will also be closed on Christmas Day or operating on a limited schedule. The post office is also scheduled to be closed.
