The Havelock Board of Commissioners is scheduled to discuss a proposed park off Lewis Farm Road near Carolina Pines during its meeting today.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Havelock City Hall. No public comment session is planned.
The proposed park would take up about 47 acres off the rural road and help fill what city staffers and youth league officials say is the need for more recreation space in the city.
However, residents on the road oppose the plan, citing increased traffic concerns that would impact not only their homes but also several horse stables in the area.
The board is also expected to get an update on Internet sweepstakes businesses in Havelock.
