Roberts, recipient of both the Marine Corps Public Service Award by former Commandant James T. Conway and an N.C. Senate certificate honoring him for 30 years of service and dedication to the Marines and service members of North Carolina, served on the Military Growth Task Force and is presently a member of Allies for Cherry Point Tomorrow.

A 10-year member of the former commission, Roberts is active in Greater New Bern Chamber of Commerce and co-chairman of its New Bern Military Alliance. He is also on the Swiss Bear Board of Directors, Havelock Chamber of Commerce, and a member and former president of N.C. Eastern Aviation Heritage Foundation.

Elmore, retired General Dynamics Information Technology vice president and now a defense industry consultant and a New Bern resident, is one of the five N.C. House of Representatives appointees to the commission.

Elmore spent more than 25 years as a Naval Air System Command civilian employee, beginning as a logistics manager for the E-2C Hawkeye program and became assistant program manager for the V-22 logistics and ultimately served as assistant program executive for air anti-submarine warfare assault and special mission logistics.

He retired from Fleet Readiness Center South East in Jacksonville, Fla., in 2001, with awards including Superior and Meritorious Civilian Service Medals. He worked with General Dynamics until 2012.
