Investigators are trying to find the cause of Wednesday morning fire that destroyed a Havelock home.

No one was injured in the 6 a.m. blaze that occurred at 335 Tall Pine Road in the Woodhaven subdivision. Havelock Fire and Rescue Chief Rick Zaccardelli said the owner was out of town on vacation at the time the fire started. He said the homeowner has been contacted and is expected back in Havelock on Thursday.

Zaccardelli said flames were already coming through the roof when fire crews arrived at the scene.

"The house had vented through the roof and there was fire coming out the front windows," Zaccardelli said.

He said firefighters needed about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

Zaccardelli said Wednesday at the home that the investigation into the cause of the fire was just beginning and that the Havelock Police Department and Craven County fire marshal are assisting.

Investigators plan to interview the owner when he returns.
